Shivpuri (MP): Eight passengers were killed and 50 others injured when a goods train rammed into the stationary Indore-Gwalior Inter-City express at Badarwas railway station in the district amid heavy rains in the wee hours on Monday.
Railway officials said eight persons have been killed and many of the injured were in a serious condition after the passenger train was hit by the goods train from the front. However, Superintendent of Police, Shivpuri, Rajendra Prasad put the toll at six. He said six bodies had been taken out from the two general bogies of the express that was hit by the goods train.
The SP said that the two bogies that were hit by the goods train were general compartments. Railway officials said the collision took place around 4:45 AM when it was raining heavily. Heavy rainfall in the area is hampering rescue operations.
